Rising Rooms Community Guidelines
Last Updated: September 2026
Welcome to Rising Rooms. To ensure our community remains a safe, supportive, and empowering space for everyone climbing their way back from rock bottom, we ask all members to adhere to the following guidelines.
1. Respect and Empathy
Treat every member with kindness. We are all at different stages of recovery and growth. Disrespectful behavior, harassment, or personal attacks will not be tolerated.
2. Safety First
Rising Rooms is not a crisis center. If you are in immediate danger or experiencing a medical emergency, please contact your local emergency services or a crisis hotline immediately.
3. Confidentiality
What happens in the Rising Rooms stays in the Rising Rooms. Do not share other members' stories, personal information, or identities outside of the community.
4. No Unsolicited Advice
Share your experience, not your instructions. Use 'I' statements. Unless a member explicitly asks for advice, focus on listening and offering support through shared understanding.
5. Content Warnings
When sharing sensitive topics (trauma, self-harm, etc.), please include a clear content warning at the top of your post to allow others to choose if they have the capacity to engage.
6. Authenticity
This is a space for honest reflection. You don't have to have it all figured out. Real growth starts with real honesty about where you are right now.
7. No Self-Promotion or Spam
Do not use the community to sell products, services, or promote other organizations without prior approval from moderators. Keep the focus on peer support.
8. Be Mindful of Shared Capacity
Listen as much as you share. Ensure you are giving others space to speak and being mindful that every member has limited emotional bandwidth.
9. Constructive Engagement
Disagreements are natural, but they must remain civil. Debate ideas, not people. If a conversation becomes heated, take a step back and report to a moderator if needed.
10. Diversity and Inclusion
We welcome all adults from all backgrounds. Discriminatory language regarding race, gender, sexuality, religion, or ability is strictly prohibited.
11. Ownership of Content
You own your story. By posting, you grant Rising Rooms permission to host your content within the community, but you retain the right to remove your posts at any time.
12. Reporting Violations
Help us keep this space safe. If you see something that violates these rules, use the 'Report' tool or contact a moderator directly. All reports are confidential.
13. One Step at a Time
Remember the core philosophy: movement is movement, no matter how small. Encourage small wins in yourself and others.
14. Respect Moderator Decisions
Moderators are here to ensure the health of the community. Their decisions are final. If you have a concern, address it through private channels rather than public posts.
15. Personal Data Privacy
For your own safety, avoid sharing your physical address, phone number, or bank details within public room threads.
16. No Doxxing
Revealing another member's real name, location, or private details is a severe violation and may result in an immediate permanent ban.
17. Accountability
Own your mistakes. If you violate a guideline and are called out, listen with an open mind and aim to do better rather than becoming defensive.
18. Honoring Boundaires
If a member asks you to stop a certain behavior or interaction style (even if you think it's helpful), you must honor that request.
19. Legal and Ethical Standards
Do not post content that encourages illegal activity or provides instructions on how to perform harmful acts.
20. Quality Over Quantity
Avoid low-effort 'copypasta' or repetitive spamming. Focus on contributing meaningful, honest content that helps the community grow.
21. Language Policy
Rising Rooms is primarily an English-speaking community at this time to ensure our moderation team can effectively maintain safety standards.
22. Trigger Warnings
Clearly label posts that discuss potentially distressing topics with 'TW' or 'CW' followed by the topic in the first line of the post.
23. No Fake Experts
Do not offer medical, psychological, or legal advice as an expert unless you are verified by the platform. Stick to personal lived experience.
24. Self-Care is Mandatory
Log off when you need to. Your mental health is the priority. The community will be here when you are ready to return.
25. Respect Intellectual Property
Only post content you have the right to share. Don't plagiarize other creators or steal members' shared art or writing.
26. Stay on Theme
Keep discussions centered around personal growth, resilience, and recovery. Irrelevant political or social debates should be taken elsewhere.
27. Growing Together
These guidelines are a living document. We appreciate your partnership in making Rising Rooms a lighthouse for those navigating hard seasons.
